AMINE AND HAMZA
About the Artist
Amine and Hamza M'Raihi are Tunisian brothers, born in 1986 and 1987 respectively. Showing prodigious talent at early ages, the brothers studied Middle Eastern music and were awarded Tunisia’s National Prize for oud and qanun. Despite their youth, Amine and Hamza have already performed at some of most famous stages in the Arab world, including the Medina Theatre in Beirut, the Cairo Opera House, and the Medina Festival of Tunis. They have also performed at various festivals throughout Europe.
Amine and Hamza play classical pieces of Middle Eastern music as well as their own compositions. Seeking to develop a new style of playing oud and qanun, the brothers are mixing the different influences of Middle Eastern music, respecting its meditation and improvisational aspects while introducing a dynamic expression.
To date, Amine and Hamza have released four albums:
Ala Mar Azaman - 2003
Il a Hounak - 2004
Asfar - 2005
Things May Change - 2006
