An Artist's Handbook: Preparing to Lead Professional Development Workshops for Teachers

[Artist Handbook] An Artist's Handbook: Preparing to Lead Professional Development Workshops for Teachers, by Lynne Silverstein, Barbara Shepherd, and Amy Duma, provides an introduction to designing professional development workshops for teachers of students in grades kindergarten through 12. The book focuses on the impact artists and arts educators can have when they help teachers develop skills in teaching in and through the arts. The publication examines characteristics of effective workshops for teachers and provides an overview of the workshop development process, with an emphasis on finding connections between artists' expertise and the curriculum. An Artist's Handbook: Preparing to Lead Professional Development Workshops for Teachers was developed from the Kennedy Center's experience in providing professional development opportunities for teachers since 1976.
