The Art of ElvinThe pursuit of knowledge, experience, and swing is a recurring theme in the music of drummer and composer Carl Allen. "A physical, hard-swinging drummer of the Art Blakey school, he pushes his band mates to abandon their cool reserve so they can testify as if shouting out in church" (The Washington Post). Allen unleashes his formidable percussive powers in a tribute concert to Blakey and Elvin Jones, alongside pianist Mulgrew Miller other talented musicians who have performed with the late drumming legends.
