About the Program
The Ying Quartet excels in performances "as close to the ideal as possible, delivering chamber music of astonishing, refreshing exaltation and exhilaration" (The Los Angeles Times). At the festival, the Yings extend their innovative repertoire while also celebrating their own cultural heritage with a performance as part of the Fortas Chamber Music Concerts. They will begin with a "Musical Dim Sum," which samples a broad range of music by three living Chinese American composers: Tan Dun's Three of Eight Colors, Zhou Long's Song of the Ch'in, and Chen Yi's Shuo and At the Kansas City Chinese New Year Concert. The performance concludes with one of French composer Claude Debussy's early compositions, the soulful Quartet in G minor, Op. 10.All events and artists subject to change without prior notice.
