Through the second set of plaza doors to the Kennedy Center, is the Hall of Nations. In this hall, parallel to the Hall of States, hang the flags of every country with which the U.S. has diplomatic relations. When a country changes its name, a 60 foot scaffold is erected in order to rearrange the flags. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, work crews had to add 12 new flags. Both the Hall of States and Hall of Nations provide access to the Grand Foyer and elevators to the Terrace Level.
